I was pleasantly surprise this morning when I ran an errand and stopped in a women's clothing store to see if they still had a dress I've been eyeing.  When I spotted that dress, I said inside "Yes".  It almost felt like I won bingo.

Well, the dress was on deep discount (Victory #1).  I started to worry when I saw only 3 dresses left.  One of the new dresses were in my size.  And one of the other dresses were in a size I'd like to wear.  So, I tried on the dress in my current size.  It did not fit well but not in the way you think.  It was way too loose (Victory #2).  Before getting deflated, I decided to try on the second dress in the size I'd like to wear.  Yes, size does matter!  It matters to me, now.  I could easy fit the second dress. 

Decision time - do I take advantage of the sale price by buying the second dress?  Or, do I hope I will find a dress I like in the size I'll wear when I need it (two months from now)?  I bought the dress.  I'll keep the tags on.  If I cannot wear it, I will return to the store and buy a smaller size.  Size will continue to matter to me.

Many psychologist will tell you that prisons should never be painted red as red provokes anger and hostility. Red is the color of fire and passion which is why so many red flowers are sent around Valentine's Day. Colors also have symbolic connotations as well as psychological significance.  For example white stands for purity. Blue induces mood of reflectivity and tranquility.

Whatever feeling or look desired, you can manufacture it via a paint brush. Every wonder why many eateries and fast food places have orange as a major part of the decor? Think about baby nurseries - light, happy pastels are the norm for infants, blue or pink.

Bringing the outdoors in with the greens and browns, all very calming values of color is very much in vogue right now. The way our world is in 2009 we all crave peace and calmness at home escaping the fast pace of our day.

We associate colors with what they represent too. In our minds, blue represents the sea and sky, yellow the sun, green the grass. So may I suggest you take some time to rethink you surroundings? Enjoy the beach? You can create that same feeling for your home. Like camping, the great outdoors? Yes with a little time and some paint why not craft your own weekend getaway to enjoy every day? Want to be happier in '09?

So if you desire to be more productive, successful, calm and relaxed achieve it all with color. First, redo your space and then that will naturally transform you. You will be happier, therefore, not eat as much, be calmer which will then make you want to call Mom. You will feel so good about talking with Mom! Once done talking with your Mother you know you will want to hit the gym. Looking better from your workouts will then give you the courage to get more involved, get active and join new associations and groups. When involved with all your new found friends from your new associations and groups you will most certainly want to show off your new place, all refreshed, revitalized for the New Year.

It's a New Year and as usual most of us make a list of various resolutions we are going to keep.

Well this go around I thought why not start with positive and paint! No, I'm going to quit smoking, eating too much, we know them all. Really, no more I'm going to the gym every day, calling my Mother more, joining a group, all the usual attempts, the typical ones that if not by now, then so very soon fall off to the way side. Thus we then can commit to them again in 2010. A cycle perhaps so I wish to at least try to break that cycle. Now please understand, I do believe in new beginnings, new choices, new options but I am now suggesting a NEW approach. I am going to attempt an intellectual go at it.

People especially at this time of year are home bound more than usual so why not start at were we begin and end our days?

Folks might not realize it but their environments play a highly important part of who they are emotionally. Our emotions drive much of our thoughts and actions. So.....if we awake in a peaceful, happy, calm, or stimulating, invigorating, bright or dark, dreary, cluttered place, that more or less underlying sets the tone of our actions for our day, our attitude, our success or our failure. Everyone knows that with a good attitude anything is possible to achieve with the right frame of mind and positive endeavors.

Change your mood and mind, change your life, change your environment! Refresh and revitalize thru COLOR. It's the easiest, cheapest trick of the trade that all Interior Designers and Decorators use universally. Enhance your environment, create different moods, follow your instincts.
