Over the last three weeks, I am have been engaged in an interesting challenge from the direct selling companies I am aligned.  Since 2006, I have been an Independent Distributor with Scent-Sations, Inc. and started as an Independent Chocolatier with DOVE Chocolate Discoveries in 2008.  National Sales Conferences for both companies were held recently and I attended them.  Although the business model, structure, and culture of each company are different from the other, I received the same challenge - a "Dare"; that is "Dare to Dream" and "Dare to Discover".

I am taking the "Dare"! Both companies have a uniqueness that is unmatched in the marketplace.  I derive great pleasure and fun from marketing their products.  Because my full-time position is quite serious, I receive the best of both worlds with important, serious work during the day and fun and yumminess at night and on the weekends.

The "Dare" I am taking is:

1. To excel beyond my wildest dreams

2. To play full out, no matter the outcome

3. To savor the journey to my destiny

It seems everyone likes something new or do they?  Recently, Sonic, the drive-in fast food restaurant has opened here in suburban Philadelphia and the lunch scene was insane.  For some reason, I thought, "I'll hit the Sonic and head home to finish my work for the day".  Most of the drive-in booths were taken.  They had to have people directing traffic there.

My first exposure to Sonic was last Fall while visiting my 94 year old grandmother in rural East Texas.  I wonder if the draw here is the novelty - Sonic could be drawing people because it has been open for a very short while.    Plus, we do not get restaurants with so many milkshake options.  Let me say I recommend the Peanut Butter Fudge shake.  One of my Facebook friends recommended the Peanut Butter shake and I took it a bit further with the Fudge.  As a DOVE Chocolate Discoveries' Chocolatier, I had to do my research, you know.

I did savor my lunch. I was amazed at how busy the seating area, the drive-in parking booths, and the drive-through were.  I am quite pleased with how I spent my lunch hour today.

Now, go try something new today!

Did I get a whopper of surprises the other day? My family threw me a surprise birthday party. Here's the funny part:

1. I am usually the one who takes every opportunity to celebrate.

2. I ask questions for my full-time work and I never questioned any of their plans.

3. I simply requested to dine at a fabulous local Brazilian restaurant even though it was a milestone birthday.

I got way more than I imagined. In addition to walking into a sea of faces, a chorus of "S-U-R-P-R-I-S-E", and lights from cameras flashing, I never suspected a conversation about fondant was leading up to my surprise birthday cake. Over the weekend, I noshed on two Cake Boss cakes (we live in suburban Philadelphia and my sister drove to northern New Jersey to pick up the cakes, chocolate and plain cannolies, and cookies). And they were way more than I expected. I consider myself a dessert connoisseur. Not because I am a Chocolatier with DOVE Chocolate Discoveries. It is because I love, love, love dessert.

Everyone toasted me, including my young son, who held a champagne flute filled with sparkling grape juice. Even the birthday cards were hilarious. In fact, I allowed my oldest brother to use my childhood nickname.

I could not have asked for anything more. I got the suprise of my life!

I love reality shows, mainly the competition type versus the one-person focused type (you know, shows that follow one person or a group of people around).  When I have a chance to watch television, typically the Food Network is one of my favorites.

So, I naturally enjoy the Next Food Network Star, which has the food, the reality, and competition I like.  On Sunday, I watched another edition of the Next Food Network Star where a shake up on the frontrunners occurred.  For me, several contestants pulled to the front - they had great presence and awesome looking food (I wish there was smellevision).

For the Star Challenge, the contestants were given a carnival sweet treat to turn into a savory dish.  As an Independent Chocolatier with DOVE Chocolate Discoveries, my interest was piqued as I am always looking out for sweet-to-savory inspirations or conversions.

While there was no "overt" chocolate dishes converted in this episode, what was amazing to me was the great-looking dishes and the lackluster promotional effort by some of the contestants.  Interacting with the guests during this challenge was a major element to their evaluation.  A number of contestants lacked the proverbial "walk and chew gum" syndrome.  What is a pretty face without the ability to sell yourself and your food?

Although the elimination segment lacked the suspense and intensity of The Apprentice, I was not sure who would be eliminated at the end of this episode.  Frankly, all of the contestants in the bottom three deserved to go home.  Until next time...

Savor life's best,

Aimee
